Update 4

Firmness prevails in late trading
The market held firm in late trading despite extreme volatility. It has been an immensely volatile trading session today.At 15:09 IST the Sensex was up 154 points, at 13,149. The Sensex swung between 13,091 and 13,177 since 14:30 IST.

The Sensex has swung over 1,400 points between some of the vital intra-day tops and bottoms. The Sensex's high and low so far are 13,195.77 and 12,830.38, respectively.
The BSE clocked a turnover of Rs 3,868 crore.

Infosys shed 1.1% to Rs 2,140. It also hit an intra-day low of Rs 2,131.30 at 14:50 IST.Wipro shed 1.1% to Rs 553. Wipro Infotech and Oracle India have formed a media technology consortium with consultancy Media e2e. The venture will provide technology services for media and entertainment firms looking to scale up.Oil exploration major ONGC remained subdued. The stock was down 2% to Rs 788. As many as 3.4 lakh shares changed hands in the counter on BSE.

Oracle as partner, 3i Infotech on the march

ACC allots equity shares under ESOS
At its meeting held on Dec. 13, 2006, the board of directors of ACC, has allotted 21,821 shares against exercise of employee stock options under various ESOS.

Under ESOS 2001, 1,350 shares have been allotted followed by ESOS 2002 (1,050 shares), ESOS 2003 (7,250 shares) and ESOS 2004 (12,171 shares).Consequent to the above allotment, the paid up share capital of the company has increased from 18,71,98,742 shares to 18,72,20,563 shares of Rs 10 face value, as of date.

Associated Cement Companies (ACC) was set up in 1936. The company is India`s oldest and largest cement company with a 19 million ton cement capacity. Its main business comprise manufacturing and marketing of cement, ready-mixed concrete, bulk cement and refractory products.

ICICI Bank allots equity shares under ESOS
ICICI Bank has allotted 94,706 equity shares of face value of Rs 10 each on Dec. 04, 2006 under the Employees Stock Option Scheme, 2000 (ESOS).

ICICI Bank was promoted in 1994 by ICICI, an Indian development financial instituition. The two entities subsequently merged to become the largest comercial bank in the private sector.

All its branches are fully computerised with state-of-the-art technology and systems, networked through VSAT technology. The bank is connected to the SWIFT International network.
