Reliance Com ties-up with Yahoo for instant messenger

Reliance Communication has announced that it has tied up with internet media company, Yahoo for the purpose of offering `Yahoo Instant Messenger`, reports Economic Times.

The mobile instant messenger would enable the customers of the company to chat live with other Reliance users besides Yahoo IM users across the world, a company statement said.This service would be available on all mobile platforms and the users will be charged Rs 5 for each session logged, the statement added.

Recently, Reliance`s 100% subsidiary Flag Telecom had announced its plans to build a cable system linking South Africa to Madagascar and Mauritius to expand its global network.

Flag would invest USD 1.5 billion to lay an additional 50,000 km of undersea optic fibre cable capable of carrying voice, video and data, which would give an additional capacity of 1.28 terabytes per second. The second phase of this cable is slated to cover Africa, touching countries such as Kenya, Mozambique, Republic of South Africa, Tanzania, Madagascar and Mauritius.
